Ibizans are also known as Ca Eivissenc (Catalan) or Podence Ibicenco (Spanish).

Appearance
The average weight of an Ibizan is about forty five to sixty five pounds whereas its average height is about 24 to 29 inches. The color of its eyes is amber and has an intelligent and alert expression. Though it appears extremely graceful, yet it possesses a strong bone girth.

Temperament
This breed of dogs is extremely intelligent, engaging and intelligent by nature. They may appear stubborn and independent at time; however with proper training this problem of theirs can be easily overcome. They are usually quite by nature and bark whenever they suspect the presence of any stranger. They prove to be great pets and like to remain indoors.

Health
The average life span of an Ibizan is about 12 to 14 years. Allergies, seizure, cataract, deafness, retinal dysplasia and axonal dystrophy are some of the common health issues that an Ibizan hound comes across. Ibizans belong to the Hound family and occasionally suffers from hereditary diseases.

History
This breed of dogs is considered one of the oldest breed of dogs. It is believed that this breed descended from ancient Egypt.

Miscellaneous
A renowned journalist stated that when any owner is reluctant to own these dogs, they should not kill the dog. It is because; killing the dog is considered an extremely bad omen. Instead they should release the animal on the island’s either side. As a result, somebody else may adopt this dog.
